Welcome To Abingdon Royal British Legion Club
We are a friendly club just a short walk from the town centre, opening our

served to join us supporting a great cause and our community
About Us
Abingdon Royal British Legion is one of the oldest branches in the country – being formed in June 1921, the year the charity was for established nationally.
The branch and the social club are separate entities:
The branch is responsible for welfare, civic and ceremonial activities.
The club is a private company and operates as a members only social club – not just for ex-military people – where anyone can join. It is responsible for the day-to-day running of the premises, upkeep of the building, events and fundraising. In Abingdon, it also runs the town’s Poppy Appeal.
The Royal British Legion (RBL) nationally was set up to support those affected by World War I and has expanded to support the armed forces and their families.
Membership of the RBL costs £20 a year (subject to change) you can joine the Royal British Legion HERE
To become a social club member, you have to pay an additional £4.50 or £3 annually. (April 2025 prices) THIS CAN BE DONE OVER THE BAR.
You don’t need to have served in the military and you can give us a try three times for free before deciding whether to join.
Membership gives you:
- Entry to all other RBL clubs
- The opportunity to purchase members-only products from the Poppy Shop and a 15% discount on other products.
- Priority access to tickets for the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall
- And, of course, access to all our facilities.
